James Webb Space Telescope

The James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) is humanity's most powerful observatory, seeing the universe in infrared light. Think of it as "super-eyes" that see much further and clearer than the older Hubble. Its 6.5-meter mirror, made of 18 hexagons, resembles a honeycomb. To stay cool, it’s protected by a sunshield as big as a tennis court. JWST doesn't orbit Earth like the Moon; it sits 1.5 million kilometers away at the L2 point. There, in Earth's perfect shadow, it observes the birth of the first stars and galaxies, acting as a time machine to the deep past.
