Gamma rays

Gamma rays are the most energetic form of light in the universe. If the Sun were a common light bulb, a gamma ray would be the blinding flash of a supernova. These invisible "light" quanta, called photons, possess such power that, unlike planets orbiting peacefully around a star, they can penetrate solid matter and disrupt atomic structures. They are born from the most violent events, such as stellar collisions or nuclear reactions. On Earth, our atmosphere protects us from this cosmic rain, much like a magnetic field shields our solar system from solar wind. It is a fascinating but extremely dangerous energy.
