Superzemě je kamenná planeta hmotnější než naše Země, ale lehčí než Neptun. Představte si ji jako „většího sourozence“ Země v naší sluneční soustavě, který má pevný povrch a často i hustou atmosféru. Zatímco Země je největší terestrickou planetou u nás, superzemě vyplňují mezeru mezi námi a plynnými světy. V naší sluneční soustavě takový typ planety zcela chybí, což z nich dělá fascinující cíl výzkumu při hledání míst, kde by mohl existovat život nebo tekutá voda.
