TESS survey identifies new planet candidates around faint stars for future UV observations
Today
Hvězdy | Exoplanety | TESSThe Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite, or TESS, has primarily focused on bright stars to identify planets for follow-up studies. However, many faint stars remain unexplored despite TESS having the necessary sensitivity to detect planets orbiting them. By shifting the focus to these dimmer targets, researchers can significantly increase the total number of known planets available for detailed investigation.
To identify these worlds, the search analyzed light curves—the measurement of a s...

TodayHvězdy | Exoplanety | Oranžový trpaslík | Lávové planety | TESSNew models for TOI-431 b and four other ultra-short-period planets predict whether these extreme worlds can maintain atmospheres. Findings suggest most tend toward bare rock, while specific sulfur signatures may reveal if their surfaces are molten or solid....
TodayHvězdy | Exoplanety | Červení trpaslíci | TESSA sub-Earth-sized planet candidate has been identified around the red dwarf Gliese 774 A. The candidate, with a radius 0.7 times that of Earth, orbits its star every 4.2 days with an estimated temperature of 548 K. Further observations are needed for validation....
TodayHvězdy | Exoplanety | Hvězdy podobné Slunci | Horký Jupiter | TESSTOI-3686 hosts a hot Jupiter and a sub-Neptune in a 2:1 orbital resonance. Their transit times vary by up to 40 minutes and 10 hours, respectively. It is the only currently known hot Jupiter system in a truly resonant configuration....
TodayHvězdy | Exoplanety | Červení trpaslíciUranus and Neptune may be experiencing ammonia rain: simulations show their expected temperature profiles cross the boundary where ammonia and hydrogen separate. In warmer sub-Neptune TOI-270 d, the two are likely to mix in all proportions....
