How did exo-Venus TRAPPIST-1 c lose its carbon dioxide? Probably not through stellar winds
Star system: TRAPPIST-1 | Distance from the Sun: 40.7 light years
TRAPPIST-1 c receives almost the same bolometric flux as Venus. However JWST measurements show no sign of CO2 which is abundant in the atmosphere of our neighboring planet. According to a new study stellar winds cannot account for all the lost CO2. So astronomers believe that the planet was either born without significant CO2 atmosphere, or must have lost big portion of it through the escape of hydrogen.
