Supererde

Image: Periodic transit timing variations measured for Neptune-like planet HAT-P-18 b
Transit timing variations occur when a planet crosses in front of its host star at slightly different times than expected. These small shifts provide information about the orbital path of a planet and the presence of other gravitational forces in the system. By measuring these variations, observers can understand the dynamics and evolution of distant planetary systems. The James Webb Space Telescope provides the high-precision data necessary to track these subtle events across a wide range of...

Image: Orbital and atmospheric evolution of the mini-Neptune TOI-2257 b
The exoplanet TOI-2257 b orbits its star once every 35 days with a high eccentricity. New models suggest its atmospheric and orbital fate depends on whether it is a gas-rich mini-Neptune or a rocky super-Earth. Higher eccentricity would confirm a gaseous nature....

Image: Masses and atmospheric evolution of planets in the young K2-233 system
New study characterizes the three-planet system K2-233. The 400 million year old orange dwarf hosts inner iron-rich planets and an outer planet, K2-233 d, that is actively losing its atmosphere. Over time, K2-233 d will likely become a sub-Neptune or super-Earth....

Image: Low density super earth TOI-2211 b characterized as a potential hot water world
TOI-2211 b is identified as a potential hot water world. Observations of this super-Earth, which orbits its orange dwarf star every 3.09 days, reveal a mass of 2.69 Earth masses and a radius of 1.457 Earth radii. A second planetary candidate was also detected....

Image: Mantle composition and mineralogy of super-Earth Gliese 486b characterised through stellar abundance
New research characterizes the interior of super-Earth Gliese 486b. By analyzing host star abundances, the study reveals an iron-rich and silica-poor mantle structure for the planet, providing a foundation for future atmospheric studies....
